Are peak EQ days the best days of your life?

They only made up like six years of the 38 years I've been alive, but they are a dream. The things I had to worry about in Norrath felt so incredibly important, even up against the things that were happening in my life. They still feel that way, which makes me feel silly. I want nothing more than to play P1999 and do the things I wasn't able to do during my time 20+ years ago. It's so weird that this stupid game has had such an impact. I wonder if we'd be better off without it ever happening? I dream of Norrath, and Im not even a fuckin gamer anymore. It's really funny if you think about it. They facilitated a launching point for us social misfits to build our own social spaces and communities, and this is the blowback. I mean, I even played the fuck out of WoW in a tight-knit RP guild and wasn't able to divine any sort of experience I had in the low-polygon liminal environment which is Norrath. Maybe my life just sucks ass, and I peaked sitting at my computer 20 years ago. Lol, oh lordy.

not the best days of my life, but certainly the most fun i’ve ever had gaming. i think i’m still chasing that dragon whenever i play a new game. all the peak graphics and gameplay improvements we have in every game now still can’t compare to the rush of quad kiting on a shitty internet connection, or the satisfaction from finally finishing the incredibly long and difficult quest to get your epic weapon back when it was still a challenge.
