Would be amazing how different the tale would be if she just said it was a statement of shaving prefrences.

Nope, but read the story... it was another person who flagged down the cop about the bumper sticker... You will find lots of cases like these if you dig enough. People speaking out against Bush or the republicans and being harassed or threatened for it. Even seen a few stories that arrests were made for publicly bad mouthing Bush, of course they were promptly released... but still.....

I'm not seeing black helicopters so to speak, simply that these are slow steps down a very dangerous road, and this isn't the first.

You know I just love you guys. It wasn't about Bush, well it probably was for the first guy, it was about F&*K. I know even here in NJ, if the Cop wants to be a prick, they can and have made people take those off on the spot or be ticketed. Hell a friend had one of those "Piss on" kid car tattoos and they made him take that off. I just don't see a problem with something you are publicly displaying having to meet some type of decency standards.

If you'd read the article, Crelone, you'd have known there was no ordinance against the F-word on a bumpersticker.

So unless you're advocating cops inventing new laws, you're wrong.

So how come you don't rag on the GOP for giving Bush TV time?

That's just it, the precident is there with the supreme court ruling back in 1970 (as the article mentions). "One man's profanity is another man's lyric."

"Curse" words are protected speech.

The sticker literally says "F---", not "FUCK" (I've seen plenty of them). It's going to be pretty tough to bring down an obscenity ruling on that. Oh, and the Supreme Court ruling too.

You guys know I'm more conserative than liberal on a good deal of topics, but this is just embarrassing. Again, another dumbass with a stick up his ass who called the cops over a stupid bumper sticker. "umm, hi, my name is Vern and there's a lady here with an F-word Bush bumper sticker on her car. IT IS OFFENDING ME TO THE HIGHEST DEGREE."

The cop is a total dickhead for reacting as he did. A reporter for the Rocky Mountain News was actually there, in line, when it occurred. She called into a radio talk-show while I was listening and told her side of the story. The cop basically told her "you remove that sticker or I'll do it for you." Pretty damn lame.
