State of the Union Address
It was, I think, percisely what we all expected it to be: a rah-rah for the Republican view of America. No percise answers were given to the general problems of the deficit, nor social security, nor health care, nor tort reform- but this was not suprising. The only thing worth mentioning, I think, is that Bush has finally managed to come up with a coherent explanation for his Foreign policy. Shame he didn't manage it 4 years ago.
Anyone else have thoughts?

Re:
At least one blatant lie.

Suuuuuuuure they are. Which is why they refuse to join multilateral talks."We are working with European allies to make clear to the Iranian regime that it must give up its uranium enrichment program and any plutonium reprocessing, and end its support for terror,"

His foreign policy explanation has been pretty consistent from what I've seen. I just disagree with the ideology because I believe it's fundamentally flawed (in exactly the same way communism is fundamentally flawed).
Overall, nothing much new there. Just a rah rah for policies that have been in place for a while. SS is probably a minor exception but it's been pretty widely discussed that he was going to bring in private accounts.
Honestly, I could go through it and tear it apart quote by quote into stuff that was stupid, stuff that was fluff and stuff that was good, but seeing there's nothing really new, is there really any point?

Overall, it was a pretty effective speach.
While there may be things I disagree with, I think that speach did what it was deisgned to do. Rally people behind the president and weed the support away from the radical democrats like teddy, and barbara. I saw an guy on some network, that said the Bush administration feels lucky to have their main detractors as harry reid, barbara boxer, nancy pelosi and teddy... as long as the democrats allow those people to speak, bush looks good no matter what agenda he pushes.

I'd prefer an Israeli style wall...or maybe the ww2 german approach to enemy snipers...drop a bunch of arty where it came fromAabe wrote:Heh heh, nothing a few special ops sniper teams couldn't fix.Burz wrote:Border Security please, thx.

Unfortunatly it will take at least 2 of those shots to hit their fatal mark before anything for real is done.
