Its still official: Quentin Tarantino still sucks

Post by Fobbon Lazyfoot »

Sin City was one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

Don't give me that "oh you just dont get the comic book feel" bullshit, either. I like comic books, and this movie still sucked. Comic books are not meant to be put on screen.

And I know all of it wasn't directed by Tarantino. The real director sucked, too.

Visually it was interesting, but the story and acting were more TV-caliber than big screen.

Didn't suck, but wasn't as kickass as I thought it would be after reading the other thread.

90%+ of comic book dialog is ass. So since they were concerned with an accurate portrayal of the graphic novels then I understand the crap-o-matique dialog. I think if they had kept the visuals and written something new in that universe it would have done well.

The dialogue wasn't "ass". It reflected the cynicism inherent in all Sin City comic books.

The dialogue was very "Mickey Spillane"esque. This is probably what inspiried QT to want to be involved. He is into that nastolgic crap.

Dialogue that works in comic books (notoriously over-the-top) sometimes just sounds fucking silly on film.

What I find hilarious is that a lot of people commenting on the dialogue in the movie have probably never read the comic in the first place.

And proclaiming that comic book dialogue is "notoriously over the top" illustrates a general ignorance concerning comic books outside of Marvel and DC. What's the next gross generalization?

I've seen the Sin City comics and though my mother's basement isn't filled with them, but I am pretty secure in my comic book knowledge.

Try not to get so riled when someone doesn't like what you do. It's babyish.

By theeee way - I am not knocking comics, I enjoy them or actually graphic novels (sounds more mature!) and manga. I think Death, The Losers, Plastic Man or The Sandman would translate well on film ...but again dialogue would sound massively cheesy if it were a carbon-copy

Marvel/DC is not my cup of tea, I am more of a Vertigo/DC gal.

I've always thought the DC character Jonah Hex would make a great transition to the screen.
Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.
