The POV gun was actually the funniest part for me. I won't say more because of spoilers.

I found it overall disappointing.

I was expecting a total bastardization but it wasn't that bad, really. They kept most of the offbeat humor of the books intact, and all the Hitchhikers Guide entries were fairly accurate. Except the one about the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster. Marvin was done brilliantly by Alan Rickman.

I admit I laughed quite a bit. And the POV gun was a good addition.

I liked it. What part of the pan galactic gargle blaster was not correct?

I thought it sucked. Sorry to say but it seemed like it was made just to honor Doug Adams' screenplay rather than because it was good.

Was a pretty decent movie IMO. I hadn't read the book or anything.

I loved it. I agree, though: the book was better. Of course, the book is always better than the movie. ;)

I was afraid they might butcher it, but I think they did a very nice job.

I recall reading that the original entry to the Hitchhikers Guide referred to the experience of drinking a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster was the alcoholic equivalent to being mugged. The movie's explaination was much more easy to relate. I kind of liked the original interpretive description.

Book said the effects of drinking a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster are supposed to be like having your brain smashed out with a slice of lemon wrapped around a large gold brick, or something very similar.

Which is exactly what the movie used.
